FAQs

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy takes an individualized approach to determining the root cause of symptoms and addressing them through dietary changes that include whole, nutrient-dense foods; lifestyle changes including stress management, adequate sleep, movement, and play; and proper levels of hydration.

Nutritional Therapy is NOT a fad diet, weight loss program, or marketing scheme. Although certain supplements may be recommended at an individual level, based on need, supplements are not required. There are no special products to buy, or pills to take.

What can I expect during 1:1 nutritional counseling?

With 1:1 nutritional counseling, you will receive a customized plan, designed exclusively for you, to help you meet your health and wellness goals.

Prior to our first meeting, you will be asked to complete a health history questionnaire, a nutritional assessment questionnaire, and a food and mood journal. During our first meeting we will review your information and work together to create a plan tailored to your goals. After that we will have follow up sessions every two weeks to discuss your progress and questions, and make adjustments as needed.

In between our sessions, I will be available for support via text or email.

What is the RESTARTⓇ Program?

RESTARTⓇ is a 5-week program that is part education, part sugar detox, and part support group. We meet five times; each session lasts about 90 minutes.

  • Week 1 - Preparation: Discuss what foods to eat, what to avoid, how to prepare your kitchen and pantry, and meal prepping.

  • Week 2 - Digestion: Begin the 3-week sugar detox, educate participants on how our digestive system works, and why it is important that it is functioning optimally.

  • Week 3 - Blood Sugar Regulation: Discuss how our blood sugar stays regulated, and what happens when it becomes dysregulated. Uncover hidden sugars and learn how to recognize them on food labels.

  • Week 4 - Fats: Share the importance of healthy fats, and what types of fats to avoid. Discuss myths and truths about cholesterol and dietary fats.

  • Week 5 - Celebrate success! Discuss how to reintroduce foods that were avoided during the 3-week detox, and how to move forward after the detox.

What is Healthy Habits for Life?

Healthy Habits for Life is a six-week program where we will look at our lives with curiosity rather than criticism in order to create healthy habits for the non-nutrition aspects we face every day that impact our health. We meet as a group to learn and share ideas; each class lasts about 90 minutes.

  • Week 1 - Habits: Explore how we create new habits that allow us to shift from “doing” mode into “being” mode, where we have made these new habits a part of our life.

  • Week 2 - Hydration: Discuss how much water you need for optimal health, and why it is so important.

  • Week 3 - Sleep: Take inventory of our sleeping environment and bedtime rituals, and brainstorm how we can create better habits to ensure we are giving our bodies adequate time for sleep and recovery.

  • Week 4 - Movement: Discuss the types of movement, why it is so important, and how we can incorporate more into our daily lives.

  • Week 5 - Time, part 1: Reflect on how we currently spend our time.

  • Week 6 - Time, part 2: Discuss how we can make adjustments to remove stress and add in more time for fun, joy, and rest.
